Jeera Aloo Recipe

Jeera Aloo is a simple Indian potato side dish made with boiled potatoes, cumin seeds, green chilies, and basic spices. It is quick, dry, and perfect with roti, paratha, dal, or rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 medium potatoes boiled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon amchur powder or lemon juice
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  3. Add chopped green chili and stir briefly.
  4. Add boiled potato cubes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  5. Mix gently until the potatoes are coated with spices.
  6. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add amchur powder or lemon juice and mix well.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

Notes

Tip text
Use firm boiled potatoes for the best texture. Do not overmix after adding potatoes, or they may break. Add lemon juice only after turning off the heat for a fresh taste.
